Cheese Scones (GF)
So much nostalgia around this recipe! Not only are these cheese scones delicious, but they always take me back to my childhood when my mother whipped these up on a sunday morning for breakfast. They take less than 30 minutes to make and are deliciously savory for the perfect easy breakfast! Serve as is or with creamy scrambled eggs!
Notes
This recipe was from my grandmother, and like all things during that time, was made with flour and dairy. To make this better for my needs, I have used GF flour, and oat milk instead of dairy milk. Feel free to use the OG ingredients if you like. The only thing I kept as is was the cheddar cheese. I don’t often eat dairy, but for these childhood favorites I decided to treat myself. This recipe makes 8 medium size scones, so double the batch if you’re serving more than 3 people! In saying that, my husband ate FIVE scones in one sitting, so one bach was only just enough for us 2!
GF Flour – the best GF flour I’ve found is from Bob’s Red Mill, link below!

Cheese – because I don’t eat cheese often, I can’t tell you much on what the best brand is, but what I do know is the yellow cheddar is dyed, whereas the white is not. So, I always go for the white as I prefer things to be as natural as possible! I’m sure you can experiment with different types cheeses in these scones, so have fun with it!
Accompaniments – I love to spread thick butter on as these come out of the oven, eating them as is. Or, I serve with scrambled egg, which is delicious. My husband is a bit of a carnivore, so i’ll throw in some bacon too if time permits. It’s really up to you!
